Our congregation has contributed to and supported Presbyterian Special Offerings for the past 30 years. These four offerings consist of One Great Hour of Sharing, Pentecost, Peace & Global Witness, and Christmas Joy.

One Great Hour of Sharing

Pentecost

For over 70 years, One Great Hour of Sharing has provided Presbyterians a way to share God’s love with our neighbors in need around the world. Three programs are supported by One Great Hour of Sharing: Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, Presbyterian Hunger Program, and Self Development of People. They all work in different ways to serve individuals and communities in need. From initial disaster response to ongoing community development, their work fits together to provide people with safety, substance, and hope.

The Pentecost offering unites us in a church-wide effort to support young people and inspire them to share their faith, ideas, and unique gifts with the church and the world. Psalm 71 testifies that a foundation of faith established during childhood helps ensure lifelong faith and service. The patterns and lessons established during these formative years continue to bear fruit throughout a person’s life. By receiving the Pentecost offering, you are nurturing the faith of those who are the church to come — children, youth, and young adults.

Peace & Global Witness

Christmas Joy

A gift to the Peace & Global Witness Offering enables the church to promote the Peace of Christ by addressing systems of conflict and injustice around the world. Individual congregations are encouraged to utilize up to 25% of this offering to connect with the global witness of Christ’s peace. Mid councils retain an additional 25% for ministries of peace and reconciliation. The remaining 50% is used by the Presbyterian Mission Agency to advocate for peace and justice in cultures of violence, including our own, through collaborative projects of education and Christian witness.

By giving to the Christmas Joy offering, you honor God’s gift of Jesus Christ by providing assistance to current and retired workers in their time of need and developing future leaders at Presbyterian-related schools and colleges equipping communities of color.

God has blessed the church with incredible leadership in every time and place, but those leaders often need to be supported by their communities as well. This offering addresses the support needed by some of our leaders, including supporting leadership development for communities of color, and providing support for Presbyterian church workers in their time of need.
