In the Presbyterian Church leadership and care of the congregation is shared by three different positions or groups. They are the Pastor(s), Ruling Elders, and Deacons.
The Pastor is responsible for the quality of life and relationships that come from the gospel to all people showing joy and justice. The Pastor is also responsible for study, teaching the Word of God, celebrating the sacraments, and praying with and for the congregation.
Our church leadership board is made up of Ruling Elders. Each year elders are elected from the congregation to a three-year term. Ruling Elders, together with the Pastor, provide spiritual leadership, attend to the business and activities of the church, and lead discipleship and discernment for the life of our congregation.
Our church also elects Deacons to two-year terms for the ministry as set in Scripture. This includes compassion, witness, and service by sharing the love of Christ to all in need. Members and friends of the church look forward to a card or call from their Deacon, know that their Deacon is praying for them, and feel connected through their Deacon as part of the church family.
